Recently I’ve had the pleasure of learning so much from Dr. Stephen Brownlow of Adept Psychology. It all started with his webinar on the 5 types of emotions, which he has graciously summarized in the attached interview. I was excited by this topic because so many women (including myself at one point) report feeling incredibly overwhelmed by emotion and criticize themselves for being too “sensitive.” I have found this usually stems from growing up in a family, culture, and/or environment that doesn’t understand and value the role of emotion to protect us from danger, help us make decisions, communicate our needs, and allow for connecting with others for the full human experience. The role of emotions is invaluable in allowing us to survive and thrive. Whether you are a woman who struggles to accept her emotions, a therapist who wants to better understand how to use your emotions to understand your clients, or anyone else who would like to learn the nuances of emotional intelligence for less stress and more joy…I genuinely hope you enjoy our rich conversation on the hot topic of emotion. And don’t forget to leave me a comment to let me know what you think, how you handle emotions, and/or where you think you could improve. Look forward to hearing from you!
